At IDS we believe it’s important to give back to the community by sharing our creative skills and helping deserving people and organizations.
One of the great privileges of running a business is being able to give generously to community organizations and charitable causes that matter.
Whether we’re participating in rides and races or we’re donating our time and creativity to build something magical, giving to charity is very important to everyone at IDS.
Here are a few of the associations we have been blessed to work with in the last 10 years.

The Autistic Self Advocacy Network seeks to advance the principles of the disability rights movement with regard to autism.
ASAN believes that the goal of autism advocacy should be a world in which autistic people enjoy the same access, rights, and opportunities as all other citizens.
IDS owner Dave has always strived to support autism-related charities as his youngest son, Jack, is on the autism spectrum.
IDS joined together with one of our office theming clients, Dr. Leslie Jacobs, to create a children’s book for charity.
All proceeds of the book are donated to ASAN. To find out more about our book or to make a purchase please click here.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless has been helping the homeless for more than 30 years. As part of their services, the Coalition provides health services to the children of parents experiencing homelessness, including pediatric dental care.
IDS is very happy to have had an opportunity to help the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. We donated a wall mural for the pediatric dental treatment room to help make it more inviting.
"Our dental clinic is thrilled to see children enter our pediatric exam room with wide eyes and smiles as opposed to fear and trepidation. You have made the environment more welcoming to say the least!"
- Dr. Carol Niforatos, DDS
Dental Director, Colorado Coalition for the Homeless

Dreams Take Flight is a registered national non-profit charity dedicated to providing the trip-of-a-lifetime to medically, mentally, physically, socially or emotionally challenged children. With the aid of our most significant sponsor, Air Canada, as well as other national & local organizations and businesses, money is raised to make the dream a reality.
IDS is passionate about helping children by making a visit to the dentist a little less stressful and a lot more fun. Our enthusiasm for helping children, however, doesn’t stop at the dentist’s office. Many members of the IDS Team are personally involved in charities aimed at helping children in need.
In 2013 our Pre-Production Manager, April Gilbert, volunteered to take a very special trip with the children’s charity Dreams Take Flight.
"Air Canada, for whom my husband works, donates a Boeing 767 for the day to fly the children, medical team and volunteers to Disney. Over the past 20 years Dreams Take Flight Calgary has taken 2845 children on this adventure.
This trip was a life changing experience for me. To see the enormous struggles and trials some of these kids go through on a daily basis is a really hard thing to wrap your head around. To know what these kids have gone through but to still see them laughing and having the time of their life in Disneyland is an amazing feeling. Even if it is for just one day, these kids are on a fantastic adventure where they can connect with other children that may have similar circumstances and experiences. I witnessed so many of the kids form instant bonds with one another."

The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a two-day charity bike ride in support of cancer research. For two years in a row, five members of the IDS Team trained tirelessly for the two-day ride. We are very proud of this dedicated team of cyclists, all of whom have had their lives affected by cancer making this ride that much more important.
IDS raised more than $36,000. Collectively the Ride has raised $304 million for cancer research. IDS is very proud to have participated in this amazing event.
The money raised for the Alberta Cancer Foundation through The Ride directly supports patients and families at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and 15 cancer centres throughout Alberta.
The Alberta Cancer Foundation provides funding to a team of top doctors and scientists whose search for new discoveries and improved patient outcomes will have a real impact in your community, across Canada, and around the world.

IDS is proud to be part of our local community, as well as a company that shows support for local art and artists. In 2012, we were introduced to an organization called the In-Definite Arts Society.
Since then the relationship between IDS and IDAS has grown, with president David Nolan joining the Board of Directors in 2015.
In-Definite Arts is a non-profit visual arts centre where artists with developmental disabilities come together to create, exhibit and sell artwork.
Since its beginnings in 1975, In-Definite Arts has continually been a leader and innovator in Calgary’s art and disability sectors, playing a significant role in supporting artists with disabilities, promoting their artwork and advocating for inclusion within contemporary art practice.
IDS has combined our talents with In-Definite Arts Society to create 3D awards for Calgary’s Award for Accessibility.
This award recognizes businesses and facilities in Calgary that have significantly exceeded the requirements for accessibility by persons with disabilities.

Inn from the Cold is a charity that offers shelter, sanctuary and healing to assist homeless children and their families achieve independence.
Inn from the Cold enlisted the help of Imagination Design Studios for a fundraising campaign. We helped by designing a small modular house to be transported to various locations.
The modular design of the house made it easy to disassemble, transport, and install anywhere in the city.
When the house was assembled at each location, the recipients were encouraged to make a donation and suggested the next location for the house. In this fashion, the house travels from place to place throughout the city, raising money for the cause.
The following year we assisted Inn From the Cold again by building a new house designed to look like a mushroom. This house was featured as a push float in local parades as part of the annual fundraising campaign. Afterwards, it was given away as a prize in a raffle that raised more money for the charity.

The mission of Make-A-Wish is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Isaac, a boy with cerebral palsy, had a special wish; he wanted a space-themed room. Isaac's wish manager from the Make-a-Wish Foundation got in touch with us to see if we could help make his dream into a reality.
In order to keep his airway open for breathing, Isaac has to sit at a slant in his wheelchair. Because of this, he only looks at the upper portion of his room, which made designing his theme unique.
IDS was excited to help; creating a design that covered Isaac's whole room in murals, lights, and toys. Special attention was given to the ceiling and a mural was created that features Isaac and his siblings. Adding glow-in-the-dark stars and LED color-changing lights created a whole new dimension to the finished bedroom.

Opening Gaits is a charitable society that focuses on therapeutic horse riding for individuals with disabilities. Our accounting manager Carol Nolan and our director of sales Elizabeth Roney have been heavily involved in the organization.
Imagination Design Studios was one of twenty local organizations that were asked to add their artistic flare to a life-sized fiberglass horse. The sculptures were auctioned off to raise money for the Opening Gaits charity.
Our talented team worked to turn our horse into a Pegasus, inspired by the Opening Gaits logo of a Pegasus and its rider. We won an award for first place and donated all of the prize money to the Opening Gaits organization to further our support of the amazing work they do.

Pawsitive Match saves dogs and cats facing life-threatening circumstances in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
The animals in this program come from shelters that have no choice but to euthanize due to over-crowding or because they are shutting down, as well as stray animals that have no home. They then focus on placing these amazing animals in the right family and creating what they call a "pawsitive match".
At IDS we love to support the charities that members of our team support. Trish, a sculptor at IDS fosters dogs through the Pawsitive Match program.
Trish and her husband foster multiple dogs at a time all year long, helping to train and socialize them before they are adopted into permanent homes. IDS supports this charity and has held raffles to help raise funds to keep this amazing organization running.

The Tooth Fairy Children's Foundation is a charitable organization with the mission to provide every child worldwide with a toothbrush, education and access to dental care.
The Foundation builds awareness of the dental needs of children globally. Funds raised are used to purchase toothbrushes for children in need.
For the past 2 years, IDS has supported the Tooth Fairy Foundation and their annual fundraising gala. We have donated auction items and created custom decorations to complement the night's theme.
We also helped raise awareness of their cause through encouraging social media shares of guests' experiences at our custom photo booth we designed specifically for the gala fundraiser.

The Red Cross Society is part of the largest humanitarian network in the world. 189 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are dedicated to improving the situation of the most vulnerable throughout the world.
IDS’s head office is located in the province of Alberta. This province has had it’s fare share of tragedies over the past couple years including the 2013 flooding in southern Alberta and the 2016 wildfire in northern Alberta. IDS has stepped up each time to offer support to those in need.
"Our ability to respond to the needs of those left vulnerable as a result of a disaster is dependent on the generous support of individuals and businesses," said Sue Phillips, Director General of the Canadian Red Cross in Western Canada. "The donation The Canadian Red Cross received today from Imagine Dental Solutions will help ensure that Albertans who were affected by flooding are supported on their path to recovery."

The Magic of Christmas is a not-for-profit charity focused on delivering the Christmas Spirit of loving, caring and sharing to many. Every Christmas Eve, they load Transit buses, magically transformed into reindeer sleighs, with Santa, his elves, and gifts and they visit homes and hospital rooms of people who are in despair.
Imagination Design Studios, along with other local businesses, helped raise over $15,000 for the charity. Movember started from humble beginnings in Australia in 2003. The Movember movement has grown to be a truly global one, inspiring support from over 5 million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas around the world and raising $759 million in Canada alone since 2003.
Movember's success can largely be attributed to the strength of the global community. Regardless of the city in which we live, we're part of something bigger, united by a commitment to help change the face of men’s health.
So in November it gets pretty hairy around the IDS offices. Yes, we are busy of course, but we have some “follicly gifted” staff that can grow magnificent facial fur that would put some of our Canadian bears to shame, all for a great cause.

The Peter Loughheed Centre is apart of the Calgary General Hospital. This facility provides a range of healthcare services including a wing just for children.
When this wing underwent renovations in 2014 IDS quickly jumped at the opportunity to help theme the area.
We added murals, 3D characters in the ceiling, and fun signage to help lift the mood of children and parents in tough situations.
The hospital staff continues to stay in contact with IDS letting us know how much the families appreciate the colourful decor.
You can see the murals here.
