This public library wanted kids and teens to feel instantly welcomed, oriented, and excited to explore. IDS created oversized, sculpted book entrances that clearly define each zone while adding a playful, memorable “you are entering a new chapter” moment the second you walk in.
Instead of relying on standard signage alone, the entrances were designed as sculptural landmarks. Each portal helps families quickly find the right area while keeping the space open and inviting.
These pieces were built to handle daily public traffic while keeping crisp edges, bright finishes, and clean readability from multiple angles across the floor.

Children’s Area Book Archway
The Children’s entry is framed by giant colorful book spines and stacked story titles, finished with a pencil, building blocks, and a “Children” header that feels like a welcoming marquee. It sets the tone for imaginative, early reader spaces. -
Teens Area Statement Entrance
The Teens entry leans more mature books, with a large “Teens” header and tall book spines that feel bold, fun, and clearly distinct from the children’s zone. -
Story Room Entrance
For programming and group reading, the Story Room entry becomes a literal open book, complete with a friendly bookworm character and floating stars. It creates a sense of occasion, like stepping into a tale before the first page is read.
