UNDERWATER THEMED CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

This contemporary underwater-themed hospital space immerses patients and families in a vibrant coral reef environment. By pairing the client’s own murals with custom 3D sculptures, IDS created a modern, playful design that welcomes visitors into an engaging ocean adventure.

• Waiting Area
  Circular faux rock windows and cushioned seating are built directly into sculpted walls, offering cozy spots for families to relax. Additional rectangular bench seating blends seamlessly into the rockwork to accommodate larger groups. A custom cave corner gives children a place to explore, play, and burn off energy while they wait.

• Photo Opportunity
  A head-hole photo op wall lets kids pose as a starfish or scuba diver, creating fun memories and promoting a positive, playful hospital experience. There are a lot of great ways to use a photo op to promote that positive time patients will have while in your care.

• Themed Wayfinding
  Visitors are guided to the waiting area by murals and 3D elements featuring colorful fish and coral. Overhead, the soaring skylight ceilings allowed for suspended sculptures of jellyfish, stingrays, and scuba divers, giving guests the feeling of walking beneath the waves.

• Immersive Details
  Wall-mounted sculptures of octopi, jellyfish, and other small sea creatures are placed throughout the hospital, encouraging interaction and helping children feel at ease.
