Kids That Rock!

September 30th, 2019

Kids are at the center of everything we do at IDS. In fact, we think kids are pretty darn incredible, which is why we’re passionate about making their experience in healthcare settings more fun, and a less scary.

If ever we need a little extra motivation, we don’t need to look further than some of the awesome kids out there who are doing amazing things for their community. Here is a roundup of some of our favorites right now:

1. Brothers with special needs star in a world without limits.

An inspiring story about brothers “Rooey” and “Bean Boy” who have both faced challenges with their health and development. They have created their own Youtube channel where they can express themselves creatively through the help of their father, a professional animator.

“Imagination is so important because it can’t be limited,” said Adam Kelly, the boys’ father.

Just because you have a disability, it doesn’t mean that you’re going to have any less of a beautiful life,” Adam said.

2. 5 year old empties piggy bank to buy milk for classmate – and raises money to buy hundreds more.

Only 5 years old and already setting an example for compassion in her community!

“Sunshine is 5 and doesn’t grasp the concept of the HUGE impact she is making, but we all do,” says Jackie Sue. “What she does understand, [is that] all her friends were able to get milk last week at school.”

3. Amazing kids making a difference at Habitat for Humanity:

No child should ever go without shelter and a warm bed, and this group of kids is doing their part to help provide safe housing for other families. And while these kids may be too young to physically work on a Habitat house, their efforts, including building butterfly houses and selling lemonade, are just as helpful.

4. Mississauga boy raises $2,000 for SickKids after suffering rare, life-threatening disease.

After getting sick himself, this little boy wanted to help other kids who were in a similar situation.
