IDS Experts – Have Fun With Color

When working with a client I am often asked for my opinion on paint color. Many of our clients make the mistake of playing it safe with color.

Although it may be tempting to pick a neutral paint color or fabric, this will work against your theming and ultimately won’t create the desired outcome of a welcoming environment.

When creating an inviting place for children, it’s important to remember that they won’t notice the effort you’ve put into your granite countertops or how your new location provides plenty of convenient parking.

They will, however, notice bright colors and friendly characters that make a typical dental office seem less scary.

By incorporating exciting colors into your office from the start, it is much easier to coordinate with your chosen theme and make the décor look intentional. Remember, your office is for children.

When choosing the right colors for your office, there are two main considerations. The first consideration is what theme will be going into your space. Bright orange walls with an underwater theme could look jarring! However, blue or seafoam green walls would tie into that theming and make the space look cohesive.

The second consideration is how children perceive color. Reds, oranges, yellows and pinks all stimulate activity, project a feeling of warmth and can make children feel welcome in an otherwise intimidating environment.

Blues, greens, and purples create a feeling of calm and can sooth nervous children. Color has a large impact on how children perceive a space and can leave them with a good feeling about coming back to the dentist for their next appointment.

From our artists to our engineers, we pride ourselves on the level of expertise each team member brings to the projects we create. Our experts want to offer some insight into their work and offer professional advice to help your dental office reach its full potential.
